If you're new to RS and prefer modern MMOs, I'd try RS3 first. See more: runescape private server score. You can use the same account/membership subscription to play both OSRS and RS3 but progress made in one does not translate to the other. OSRS is sometimes called RS2 because it was released after RS Classic (aka RS1), the first version of the game released in 2001. OSRS is now available on iOS and Android with rumors of RS3 coming to mobile soon. OSRS also still retains the older look & feel, however a third party client called OSBuddy is very popular way to enhance this. If a script global or function does not need to be accessed from Java code, it is highly recommended that it be declared static. OSRS differs from RS3 mainly in that it does not include the new combat system using skills, loot crate style micro-transactions which can give xp advantages (P2W), cosmetic overrides for armor/equipment. In Feb 2013, Oldschool RS (aka OSRS or RS2) was released which was a copy of the game's state in 2007. I say "latest" because both versions receive regular game content updates today and have large separate communities.
The client is made by Jagex and available for Windows and Mac.
DO I NEED JAVA FOR RUNESCAPE 3 INSTALL
To continue playing, install the RuneScape game client. As such, it's no longer possible to play RuneScape in these browsers. This has translated to performance updates like better graphics/animations and a more modern look & feel. Recent updates to Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox drop support for the Java plug-in required to play RuneScape. Moving away from code scripted in Java, RS3 now runs on Jagex's NXT client written in C++.
The version of RS being released on Steam (aka RS3 or Evolution of Combat/EOC) is the "latest" version of the game. There are 2 separate versions of Runescape alive today.
